Healix Wound Care was founded by Dr. Seana Rutherford with a simple but powerful conviction: wound care can — and should — be better.

As a Nurse Practitioner serving patients across Ohio for over a decade, Dr. Rutherford saw firsthand how often wound management became reactive. Dressings were changed. Notes were written. But the deeper questions weren’t always being asked:

Why did this wound develop?
What system failed?
How do we prevent the next one?

Driven to close that gap, she pursued clinical excellence as a Certified Wound Specialist® through the American Board of Wound Management. With a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree and extensive experience navigating regulatory environments, Dr. Rutherford built Healix to bridge evidence-based care with system-level prevention.

Today, Healix reflects her philosophy: precision in assessment, accountability in documentation, and a proactive approach to protecting skin integrity — whether in skilled nursing facilities, assisted living communities, patient homes, or at the Healix Wound Center in downtown Cleveland.
